Confirm current details with each service directly. ## Private residential rehab in Spain: the honest reality Spain has a large private rehab market, much of it clustered on the Costa del Sol around Marbella. Quality and price vary enormously, and the two do not always move together. A high nightly rate often pays for a villa, a pool and staff-to-guest ratio rather than for better clinical work, so it pays to look past the marketing. Most private rehab clinics offer a broadly similar core, whatever the marketing on top: an assessment, a personalised treatment plan, individual psychotherapy and group therapy, medical support through withdrawal symptoms, and an aftercare plan for the weeks after you leave. This is usually residential treatment, whether inpatient or outpatient in its early stages, sometimes preceded by a separate assessment. Addiction rarely sits in isolation, and a decent centre also treats dual diagnoses, the mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, an eating disorder or trauma-related stress that often sit alongside a substance use disorder, whether that is alcohol addiction, dependency on cocaine, opiates or prescription drugs, or a broader pattern of substance abuse. Centres describe this mix of alcohol and drug work differently, but the underlying clinical work is similar. Discretion matters too: many people want a discreet, residential stay as much for privacy as for clinical quality, and a genuinely evidence-based, holistic approach should sit behind the marketing, not replace it. It is also worth asking whether a psychiatrist or other medical doctor is available, and whether the team includes mental health professionals as well as addiction specialists. Two points matter before you compare prices.
