We can speak on the record about addiction treatment abroad, how private residential rehab is regulated in Spain, published pricing and referral fees in the treatment industry, and the clinical programme itself. What we can speak about, on the record
These are areas where we have direct operational experience and can be quoted. We would rather be useful on a narrow set of topics than vague on a wide one.
| Area | What we can contribute |
|---|---|
| How rehab is regulated in Spain | How the health-centre registers work, what the care unit atención sanitaria a drogodependientes (healthcare for drug dependency, authorised care unit U.71) covers, the difference between a registered health centre, a hospital and a detox unit, and how a reader can check any centre themselves on the public registers. |
| Treatment abroad, and who it does not suit | Why people travel for treatment, what distance actually contributes clinically, and the cases where a service closer to home is the better answer. We will say the second part on the record. |
| Referral fees and patient brokering | How referral fees work in addiction treatment, why we neither pay nor accept them, and what that means for anyone using a comparison site or a helpline to choose a centre. |
| Published pricing | Why most centres do not publish a price, what ours includes and excludes, and how the published ranges for the UK, Australia and the United States compare. |
| Why success rates are not published | The absence of an agreed definition or an independent auditor for outcome figures in private residential treatment, and what we record instead. See outcomes and quality. |
| The clinical programme | The seventeen-module psychoeducation curriculum, the structure of a treatment day, and how the approach adapts the PROMIS method. |
| Detox, and the distinction that gets lost | Which withdrawals are dangerous, which are not, and why a centre that is not a detox unit should say so plainly. |
What we will not do
Stated up front so nobody wastes a deadline on it.
- No patient interviews or case studies. We will not introduce journalists to current or former clients, with or without their consent. The power imbalance in early recovery makes informed consent unreliable, and it is not a line we are willing to test.
- No filming of clients, ever, including from behind, in silhouette, or unidentifiably.
- No comment on another named centre. We will explain how to check any centre's registration; we will not do it for you on the record.
- No success-rate figure. We do not have one we can stand behind, and we will not produce one for a story.
- No clinical advice about an individual. If a reader needs help, we would rather you printed the free helplines below than our phone number.
Press kit
Everything below is cleared for publication, free to use, and does not require permission. Attribution to Sierra Recovery is appreciated but not required for the factual material.
Download the press kit
One archive, 28 MB. Fifty-six photographs at print and web resolution, the media kit PDF, approved boilerplate, logos, and instructions for checking our registration yourself on the Spanish public registers.
| Asset | Where to get it |
|---|---|
| Full press kit, one download | Everything on this page in a single archive: sierra-recovery-press-kit.zip (28 MB). |
| Media kit, eleven pages | The media kit as a PDF, eleven pages: who we are, the programme, what it costs, the full photography library, brand assets, spokespeople and contact. The same reference in machine-readable form is at /ai-instructions/ or as plain markdown at /ai-instructions.md. |
| Structured data | Every claim with its source and verification status at /data/facts.json, and the programme at /data/programme.json. Both are in the kit. |
| Photography, 56 images | Three photographs at 4080×3060, which reproduce to about 345mm wide at 300dpi, wider than an A4 page. Forty-eight at 1200 to 1600px for online use, grouped by subject: the house and grounds, the pool, bedrooms and interiors, sport, the kitchen, and the landscape, horses and wildlife. Web files are not print files and are labelled as such throughout. Five more are photographed with models, in their own folder, with with-model in every filename and every caption. Those are models, not clients: we do not photograph clients in any form, so no image of a client exists to release, and nothing should be captioned as though it did. Everything is free for editorial use with credit to Sierra Recovery. Every image in the media kit PDF is a link straight to the full-size file. The three print-resolution frames are all exterior; if you need an interior at print resolution, ask and we will photograph it. |
| Logo | SVG masters and transparent PNGs at four widths are in the kit, with usage notes. Direct: primary mark, SVG, reversed for dark backgrounds, SVG. |
| Licence documentation | Registration is N.I.C.A. 67331, verifiable in the SICESS and REGCESS public registers. The kit includes the authorisation plate and step-by-step instructions, including the care-unit filter that has to be set or the search returns nothing. See regulation and licensing. |
| Boilerplate | Approved descriptions at three lengths, the details reporters most often get wrong about this centre, and preferred language. In the kit. |
| Pricing | Published in full at /pricing/. |

Reporting responsibly on addiction and suicide
We will always answer a question about this, and we would rather flag it than not. Media guidelines on reporting suicide, including those published by Samaritans, ask that method and location are not described in detail and that sources of help are included. For addiction specifically, the language that helps is person-first: a person with an addiction rather than an addict, and a return to use rather than a relapse framed as failure.
If a story is likely to reach people who are struggling, please include free sources of help. In the UK: Samaritans 116 123, free and 24 hours; FRANK 0300 123 6600; Drinkline 0300 123 1110; and the National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133.

Questions people actually ask
How quickly do you respond to press enquiries?
Usually within one working day. If you are on a deadline, say so in the subject line and we will prioritise it. Press enquiries are handled directly by the director rather than through an agency.
Can I interview a client or former client?
No. We will not introduce journalists to current or former clients, with or without their consent, and we do not permit filming of clients in any form including silhouette. The power imbalance in early recovery makes informed consent unreliable, and it is not a line we are willing to test for coverage.
Will you comment on another treatment centre?
We will explain how anyone can check a centre against the public health registers, and we will explain how referral fees work in the industry. We will not comment on another named centre on the record.
Can you give me your success rate?
No, because we do not publish one. There is no agreed definition of success in addiction treatment and no independent body auditing outcome figures for private residential centres, so any number we produced would be self-defined and self-reported. Our outcomes and quality page explains what we record instead.
Can we film at the centre?
By arrangement, and subject to no client being present or identifiable in any frame. Contact the director to discuss dates. The centre is in Humilladero, about forty five minutes inland from Malaga airport.
